Doors we've actually fitted

Four real installations, so you can see the finish and the quality for yourself, not a catalogue shot. Endurance's own range spans three collections: Classic (named glazing designs like Riviera, Regal, Sarah, Virtue and Spring), Urban (named designs including Fabian, Harmony and Comete) and Country.

One of ours: a black composite front door, seen in its own frontage.
The same door, close up.
A green one, from a full house replacement.
Anthracite, with a bar handle and two obscure-glazed sidelights
Grey, on a full frontage. Endurance's own photography.
Fitted on a mock-Tudor property, with full-height sidelights either side
A sage green six-panel design, a different look to the anthracite doors above
A dark woodgrain finish with a leaded-glass strip and full sidelights

All four photographs are genuine Wilshaw installations, not manufacturer photography.

Hardware comes in 6 collections and 10 finishes in total. Depending on the door, the locking mechanism can be a standard multipoint, an auto-locking version that locks itself when you push the door shut, or a keyless smart lock. Every door is supplied with 5 high-security keys.

Composite vs uPVC: the honest difference

Both are good doors. Here's where they actually differ.

Composite (ours)Standard uPVC door
Core constructionA 48mm solid timber core (Kerto LVL), CE marked and independently certifiedA foam-filled or steel-reinforced uPVC panel
Panel thicknessEndurance says the core makes it "10% thicker than most other doors on the market"A standard uPVC door panel
Weather sealingA Moisture Barrier System at the base of the door, designed to stop water causing bowing or warpingStandard drainage and weatherseals
Fading and warpingA solid timber core and a heat-reflective skin, built to resist fading and warping over timeCheaper GRP-skinned composite and uPVC doors can fade or warp after years in the weather
Thermal performanceA U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, which just clears the current Building Regulations minimumVaries, and can fall short of the same regulatory minimum on an older or lower-spec door

What you're actually buying

The numbers behind the door, explained plainly.

Thermal performance

A U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, which just clears the Building Regulations minimum rather than beating it by a mile.

Glazing

4mm argon-filled double glazing as standard, with triple glazing available if you want it.

CoolSkin finish

A uPVC skin that reflects heat and resists fading, flaking and peeling.

Sound reduction

As high as 36dB, though the actual figure depends on the door style you choose.

Independently tested

Tested to BS 6375-1 and BS 6375-2 for weather and strength, and BS EN ISO 10077-1 for thermal performance.

Sustainably made

Traceable Finnish timber, a carbon-negative core, and Endurance's support for Carbon Neutral Britain.

What's wrong with the door you've got

Three problems we see on almost every old front door.

Losing heat at the frame

A door that's dropped or warped doesn't seal properly any more. That's draughts and cold spots right where you're standing when you come through your own front door.

Faded and warped panels

Cheap composite and GRP-skinned doors can fade, bow or warp after a few years in the weather. Once the skin's gone, no amount of cleaning brings it back.

A lock that's not actually secure

Most older doors still have a standard euro cylinder, and those can be snapped in under a minute with basic tools. It's how most break-ins through a front door actually happen.

How it works, start to finish

No salesman, no call centre. Just Josh.

The survey

Josh comes out, measures the opening and brings the real swatches so you can see the colours and hardware in your own light.

The quote

You get a clear, fixed written price for exactly what's been measured and specified, with nothing added on later.

The fit

Your new door is fitted, sealed and adjusted properly, and the old one's taken away. The same person throughout, not a third-party installer.

The bits people worry about

  • Is this actually as secure as it sounds, or is that just marketing?

The real PAS 24 and TS007 testing detail is further down this page. We'd rather show you the detail than make a bigger claim.

  • What if I don't like the colour once it's fitted?

You'll see and handle the real swatches at your survey, in your own light, before you commit to anything.

  • Who's actually coming to fit it?

Josh surveys and manages every job himself. You're never handed off to someone you haven't met.

Why people pick us for a front door

Josh surveys and manages every job himself, from the first measure to the final adjustment. Endurance's own website hands you off to a local installer partner it won't name, and the biggest local door retailer sells five different brands. We fit one exclusive range, properly, and you deal with the same person throughout.

  • One point of contact, from survey to fitting
  • One exclusive range, not five different brands
  • An Assure-backed workmanship guarantee, separate from Endurance's own product guarantee

Is this actually secure?

Is a composite door actually more secure?

Endurance doors can be specified to Secured by Design standard, the police's own "design out crime" scheme. The testing behind it includes a crowbar and mole-grip attack on the hardware, repeated attempts with craft knives and screwdrivers on the cylinder, a chisel and bolster attack, and a 50kg impact test at the hinges and lock. That's most Endurance doors, not a blanket claim across the whole range, so we'll confirm it for the specific door you pick.

  • The standard ABS Master cylinder is rated TS007 3-star and Sold Secure Diamond. Its Active Snap Protection triggers a hidden lock inside the cylinder the moment someone tries to force it.
  • Endurance says properties fitted with its Secured by Design doors are 75% less likely to be burgled, and that 73% of household burglaries happen through the front door. Those are Endurance's own figures, not independently verified by us.
  • A standard euro cylinder, the type on most older doors, can be snapped in under a minute with basic tools. That's why the cylinder matters more than how thick the door slab is.

The £2,000 Security Guarantee, and what it actually means

The £2,000 Security Guarantee comes from Endurance, funded by its hardware partner and not by us. If your ABS Master cylinder is ever snapped in a break-in within 10 years of the door being fitted, it pays out. To keep it valid, you need to register it online within 28 days of installation, have the cylinder serviced with graphite powder once a year (never WD40 or oil), and hold onto your crime reference number and the snapped lock itself if you ever need to claim.

It's Endurance's guarantee, not ours, and it covers the lock, not the fit. Our own Assure-backed workmanship guarantee is what covers how the door's actually installed, and it's completely separate from anything Endurance promises on the hardware.

Louie

New front door looks amazing, such an upgrade. Good price and easy to deal with owner, worth a chat if you want a new front door.

Natasha Evans

Josh and his team worked incredibly hard replacing all of the windows and doors in our house, including fitting a beautiful bifold door in place of our old French doors. We could not be happier with the results. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, and Josh was fantastic with communication throughout the whole process. He was reliable, professional, and kept us updated every step of the way. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality work and great service.

Andy

Bournemouth

Josh installed our new windows, triple track doors, roof lights and front door at our house in Bournemouth. A very professional, tidy and efficient service from beginning to end. Would highly recommend Wilshaw Glazing.

How much does a composite door cost, fitted?

A composite door typically runs £1,000 to £1,800 fitted, with roughly £400 on top for a side light. Where yours lands depends on the size of the opening, the finish, the glazing and the hardware you choose. Get a free quote and Josh will come out, measure the opening himself, and give you a fixed price to think over, not a "from" figure that changes once someone's actually seen the job.

Is Endurance actually a good composite door brand?

It's a well-established UK manufacturer with real, independently defined testing behind its security claims, which is more than most competing brands publish. We can't honestly rank it against every other composite door brand on the market, but it's the range we've chosen to fit and stand behind.

What's the lifespan of a composite door, and does it need maintenance?

A well-made, properly fitted composite door should last decades with very little upkeep. It won't need painting or sanding, just an occasional wipe down and, on a Secured by Design specification, an annual service of the cylinder with graphite powder to keep the guarantee valid.

Is the £2,000 Security Guarantee the same as your workmanship guarantee?

No. The £2,000 guarantee is Endurance's own scheme, covering the lock against a break-in. Our Assure-backed workmanship guarantee is separate, and covers how the door's actually fitted. See the security section above for how the guarantee works.

Can I have a different colour inside to outside?

Yes. Composite doors can be specified with one colour outside and a different one inside, so the street sees what suits the house and you get a colour that suits the hallway.

What happens next if I want a quote?

Josh comes out to survey the door in person, brings the swatches, and measures up properly before pricing anything. There's no obligation, and you'll get a clear written quote to think over.

Pricing

How we price a composite door

Every job is quoted after a survey

A composite door typically runs £1,000 to £1,800 fitted, plus about £400 for a side light. That's a band, not a "from" figure: the opening, the finish and the hardware all move it. We'll give you an exact, fixed price once we've actually seen the job.

  • The survey covers the exact opening, measured properly, so nothing gets guessed at.
  • The written quote covers the door, glazing and hardware exactly as specified, with nothing hidden.
  • The price can change with the opening size, the finish, the glazing and the hardware you pick.
